Global food prices increased by 1.1 per cent in January, reports the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations.
Its food price index rose by 1.5 points to 135.7.
Dairy and vegetable oils were the main reasons for the increase.
Meat and cereal prices held steady and sugar declined.
