A $6 million subsidy announced

The federal and Ontario governments are offering $6 million in cost-sharing subsidies for marketing.

It’s an extension of a program that began last year, also with $6 million.

The money helps with market analysis and planning, new product

development and marketing.

Ontario Agriculture Minister Lisa Thompson also talked about a trade mission she led to Mexico to meet with Mexican government, trade representatives and leading food companies.

The Ontario delegation included Grain Farmers of Ontario, Baxter’s Bakery Inc., DG Global Inc., Hamilton Oshawa Port Authority, King’s Pastry, London Agricultural Commodities and Parrish & Heimbecker.

In 2022, Ontario-Mexico agri-food two-way trade was $2.8 billion and

Mexico was Ontario’s sixth-largest agri-food export market.
