Countries dropped from meat import eligibility

 

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency has dropped a number of countries and specified meats from marketing to Canadians because they have not been active for years.


The list the CFIA released this week is:

 

Australia: farmed deer, wild hunted game; Tasmanian brushtail snd deer, elk, ostriches, rheas, cassowaries and kiwis;;

Greenland: farmed reindeer[

Iceland: sheep and goats;

New Zealand: ostriches, emus, rheas, cassowaries and kiwis;


Belgium: beef;

Croatia: poultry

Czech Republic: breef;

Denmark: poultry;

Finland: beef and poultry

France: ostriches, emus, rheas, cassowaries and kiwis;

Italy: rabbits

Portugal: beef, rabbits, sheep, goats, deer and elk;

Slovenia: beef and pork;

Spain: poultry;

Sweden: poultry.

Their meats are no longer eligible for sale to Canada because the Canadian Food inspection Agency Is no longer recognizing domestic meat inspection from those countries for those species.
