The Chicken Farmers of Ontario commissioned a third-party study as part of its work to develop a specialty-markets policy.
I have it on good authority, however, that it is refusing to share the report prepared by the consultants, even with members who participated by providing input.
I have also learned that the CFO has not provided this report to its supervisory body, the Ontario Farm Products Marketing Commission.
I don't think this is the kind of dictatorial arrogance the politicians had in mind when they granted farmers the right to establish supply management.
And yet the commission seems to show no interest in curbing these kinds of abuses of power.
Then again, the commission has declined to force the CFO and its members to reimburse the public for a decade of over-charging on the basis of feed conversion rates.
