Plea for drinking water research funding

Dick Hibma, chairman of Conservation Ontario, has written a letter asking for more money to conduct the research required to develop and implement Source Water Protection plans.

His letter has gone to Paul Evans, deputy of the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change.

A group of chairs of Source Water Protection Committees have also written to the government, asking for continued funding so they can complete their research on their Source Water Protection plans.

They have also drawn attention to the failure to include First Nation lands in the Source Water Protection plans.

They also note that there has been no provision in the province’s funding and authority for the impacts of climate change.
