Austin
"Jack" DeCoster and son Peter DeCoster who cheated on egg quality for
their mega-sized egg-production business in Iowa have lost an appeal of their
three-month sentences.
In 2010, there
was a rash of food-poisoning outbreaks across the United States that were
linked to salmonella bacteria in eggs from the DeCoster operations.
Subsequent
investigations found the farms in an alarming state of poor sanitation and pest
controls.
I find it unbelievable that their appeal was supported by a small-business group. Apparently risking the lives of your customers is okay by them.
Now, when will our Canadian egg-quality cheats be hauled into court? After a rash of food poisonings?
