One of them is the Ontario Power Generation plant at Niagara-on-the-Lake which is due for refurbishing.
Ontario Environment Minister Jeff Yurek said this will save both time and money and said changes to the half-century-old environmental assessment protocols will now allow projects that have little impact on the environment to proceed after a “screening process”.
Yurek said in a news release that “projects that meet the screening eligibility criteria would be required to notify the public, Indigenous communities and government agencies when they start the screening process and complete an assessment of potential environmental concerns.”
