Robert Ingratta is the new chairman of the Canadian Dairy Commission.
He takes over from Alistair Johnston.
He served as chief executive officer for the British Columbia Milk Marketing Board for six years and more recently has been a director on the Greater Vancouver Real Estate Board and on the Azura Strata, an apartment building.
Federal Agriculture Minister Marie-Claude Bibeau also announced the re-appointment of commissioner Jennifer Hayes who has held the position since 2017.
Hayes is a dairy and beef farmer on Quebec's Gaspé Peninsula. She is the third generation to farm at PineCrest Farms in Shigawake, which she co-owns with her father and uncle.
