Olymel’s plant at Yamachiche, Que., is open again today with a medical doctor and health unit help to instruct returning workers on new protocols to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
The plant has been closed for 14 days after nine workers tested positive for the virus.
The company said processing capacity will depend on how many workers show up and the impact of the new protocols.
“Olymel is working closely with partners in the hog industry to ensure that the flow of hogs continues as normally as possible in order to avoid last-resort solutions like compassionate slaughter or euthanasia at the farm,” the company said.
