John Walker of Aylmer, one of Canada’s leading marketers of Canadian Holsteins, has died. He was 86.
He ran Walker Sales Arena at Aylmer and developed an outstanding Holstein herd that had 500 head when he turned it over to son, Jon.
He is a member of both the Elgin County and Canadian Agricultural Hall of Fame, was a founding member of the Canadian Livestock Export Association (later the Canadian Livestock Genetics Association) and a member of Holstein Canada for more than 40 years.
He was honoured during the Queretaro Fair in Queretaro, Mexico. He supported a number of young people starting dairy farms and local community organizations.
