Grain Farmers of Ontario is getting out of marketing.
Since 1973, they have been able to have their organization
market wheat via pools that averaged prices over the season.
It began with the Ontario Wheat Producers Marketing Board
and was inherited by Grain Farmers of Ontario when it merged wheat, corn and soybean
boards.
Grain Farmers of Ontario also offered futures-market
services that will also end with the upcoming crop year.
The board said there are now many grain elevators and
marketing services available to farmers so its marketing services are no longer
required.
