JBS SA, the world’s largest meat packer, reports an increase of 151.4 per cent in its first-quarter profits to almost $1 billion US.
The company made a lot more money on beef, pork and chicken.
Beef business profits for Canada and the U.S. increased by almost 22 per cent. The company owns the former XL Packers plant in Alberta.
Its chicken business is Pilgrim’s Pride in the United States. Among its holdings is a substantial share of the Australian beef-packing industry.
