Wholesome Spice of Brooklyn, N.Y. has a court order to pay
$33 million to Daniele International Inc. because the spice it supplied
resulted in a recall of Italian sausage in early 2010.
The company did not respond in court to the lawsuit Daniele
filed.
The court decision carries implications for farmers because
they could presumably be held responsible for any flaws in the livestock they
market to packers that results in a recall.
