JBS union oks five-year contract

The union representing about 3,000 employees at the JBS beef-packing plant at Greeley, Colorado, have voted 97 per cent in favour of a five-year contract.

They immediately get an hourly wage increase of $1.90.

JBS recently signed similar agreements with United Food and Commercial Workers Union employees at its plant at Grand Island, Nebraska, and Worthington, Minn.

Negotiations at Greeley lasted 11 months. Negotiations continue at JBS plants at Souderton, Pa., and Louisville, Ky.

JBS owns the XL Foods Ltd. plant at Brooks, Alta., Canada’s second-largest beef-packing facility.
