Whale appointed to electricity regulator

Deborah Whale has been appointed to a two-year term as a director of Ontario’s Independent Electricity System Operator.

She is a former Liberal candidate, part owner of Clovermead Farms Inc. near Alma and vice-president of the Ontario Farm Products Marketing Commission.

She served on the Minister's Advisory Committee for the Canadian Food Inspection Agency and the Agriculture Research Institute of Ontario and is a former chair of the Vaccines and Infectious Diseases Organization.

She is a member of the Ontario Institute of Agrologists and a graduate of Queen’s University, Kingston, Ont.


The IESO's responsibilities include a broad range of integrated operations, from grid operations and short-term supply planning, security assessment and scheduling, to real time co-ordination of the power system.
