Ontario beef cracks Japanese market

Ontario Corn Fed Beef, a brand owned by Ontario beef farmers, has entered the Japanese market via a deal with Kinsho which is marketing it in 33 of its stores in Osaka.

A group of Japanese retailers and distributors is touring Ontario beef farms and packing plants now to gain “a deeper understanding of just what this brand means,” says Jim Clark, executive director for the Ontario Cattle Feeders Association (OCFA).

He was instrumental in launching the organization and the Ontario Corn Fed Beef program after he worked as a staff member in the Ontario agriculture minister’s office.
