StatsCan says the
Canadian wheat harvest will top 30 million tonnes for only the second time in
25 years.
The
crop will be 10 per cent greater than last year because of a combination of
more area planted (an extra 1.1 million acres) and high yields.
Ontario
shattered yield records, up by 67 per cent from last year.
Corn
and soybean production are both expected to be lower.
Canadian
corn is projected to be down about 12 million tonnes, or 9 per cent, from 2015.
Ontario’s
corn crop will be down by 11.1 per cent, says StatsCan, and the soybean harvest
will be 15 per cent less than last year.
