Alberta back in Chicken agency

Alberta is back in the national Chicken Farmers of Canada marketing agency.

It has been out since 2013 because it felt it wasn’t getting high enough production allocations.

The deal became official when the Farm Products Council of Canada determined that Governor-in-Council approval is not required for the new federal-provincial agreement.

It has taken eight years to reach the deal that includes better terms for Ontario.

"The agreement provides strength to the Canadian chicken industry and shows that we can work together to evolve our supply management system for the benefit of all," said Michael Laliberté, executive director of the national agency.
