Feds sign support with Ontario

The federal-provincial agreement on farm supports was unveiled this week in Guelph, the first federal-provincial-territorial agreement in this latest round of funding.

For Ontario is means $1.5 billion for the agri-food sector, $1.1 billion for Business Risk Management funding and $417 million for strategic initiatives funding.

The feds put up 60 per cent of the money in these agreements.

The same day the province announced $713 million for the renewal of its research funding agreement with the University of Guelph.
