The United States Department of Agriculture says it has
found a second case of genetically-modified wheat growing where it ought not
be.
This time it’s on a university research plot where
genetically-modified wheat was test grown more than a decade ago.
The first time it was on about 100 acres in Oregon and the
discovery prompted some countries to temporarily ban wheat imports from the
United States.
The herbicide-resistant wheat was found on one to three
acres at a university research centre in Huntley, Montana, where GMO wheat was
legally tested by Monsanto 11 years ago.
The plants in Oregon were found in a field that had never
conducted such tests, prompting questions about how it got there.
