Michigan egg farm investing $33 million

An egg farm in Saranac, Michigan, plans to invest $44 million in an expansion that will create 50 jobs.

Herbruck's Poultry Ranch says the investment will go toward expanding its organic and cage-free egg production.

The Michigan Economic Development Corporation said Wednesday that Herbruck's is getting a $750,000 grant from the Michigan Strategic Fund. It's an increase of a previously awarded grant of $500,000.

Herbruck's is Michigan's largest egg farm, supplying major supermarket chains such as Meijer and Kroger.

And just think, Herbruck's didn't have to spend a penny buying quota.
If and when tariffs are reduced via free trade agreements, Ontario's quota-indebted farmers will be facing competition from Herbruck's. Good luck!
