Witmer honoured by Holstein breeders

Bruce Witmer of Cambridge has been awarded one of Holstein Canada’s highest honours.

The owner of Speedside Holsteins, which has a prominent sign on its barn beside Highway 401, was presented with a Certificate of Recognition at Holstein Canada’s annual meeting recently in Alberta.

He was nominated by the Ontario Holstein Branch which says he has been instrumental in promoting programs of the Holstein breed and initiating the lifelong interest in the dairy industry for many young people.

His daughter, Wendy, was an Ontario Dairy Princess and she married farm reporter and CTV broadcaster David Imrie of Kitchener who is also a dairy farmer.

It has been seven years since Holsteins Canada has awarded a Certificate of Recognition.
