Chicken agency resumes growth

The national agency for chicken supply management has resumed growth targets.

For the quota period that begins the end of October, it is calling for a one per cent increase over base. Ontario has been granted the same one per cent increase.

The Chicken Farmers of Ontario marketing board said on its website that “some stability has returned to the marketplace . . . however, the market remains materially different than normal as some segments are now performing well while some others remain much lower than normal.

The national production target is 191  million kilograms and Ontario’s share is set at 66 million.
