Countries have imposed travel restrictions to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and that’s presenting challenges for migrant workers who planned to return home.
“As countries around the world take measures at their borders to control the spread of COVID-19, the movement of workers and travellers has been significantly disrupted,” federal Agriculture Minister Marie-Claude Bibeau said.
She singled out those from Trinidad and Tobago and said the Canadian government is taking steps to help them get home. She recommends that the workers contact their embassies in Ottawa.
Others say they are facing similar challenges returning to Jamaica.
