Another $16.5 million for innovation

The federal and Ontario governments are giving another $16.3-million push for research and innovation, this time including eligibility for projects that apply research to commercialize products.

Applications open online on Nov. 2 for up to $150.000 per project or $200,000 if two or more companies or businesses are involved in the production and delivery chain.

Eligible applicants include a university or college, a research organization or foundation, an industry organization or business, a non-governmental organization, or a municipal or Indigenous government or agency of Ontario.

Organizers will offer priority to food safety, plant health, animal health and welfare, soil health, water quality and quantity, sustainable production systems, productive land capacity, competitive production systems, innovative products and product improvements, and trade, market and targeted sector growth.
