Cardinal gets government money

Cardinal Meat Specialists Ltd. of Brampton is getting more than $826,000 from the federal government to buy sausage-making equipment.

Why this company needs taxpayer help is a mystery to me. It's been in business for decades with some steadily-profitable accounts, such as McDonald's Restaurants.

It seems our Canadian governments no longer have enough money to help poor people make ends meet, but has plenty to dish out to those who are doing just fine.

In the news release announcing the gift, the government says Cardinal is the first in Canada to apply new technology to make sausages that won’t split or burst while being cooked.

Agriculture Minister Gerry Ritz’s parliamentary secretary, Pierre Lemieux, participated in a media event to highlight the handout of yours and my money.
