Belmont hamburger recall expands

Belmont Meat Packers of Toronto has expanded its hamburger recall to include non-branded packages marketed via Loblaws.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency says there have been no reported illnesses, but that’s questionable because the Ontario Ministry of Health has reported at least nine illnesses related to hambuger from Belmont that was marketed via the Sobey’s supermarket chains.

Loblaws was added earlier to the recall, but for its nation-wide distribution of President’s Choice hamburgers.

Webers Bucket of Burgers is also involved in the recall.

The issue is E. coli 0157:H7 bacteria.
