Maple Lodge has been fined $264,800


More information about Maple Lodge Farms Ltd.’s trucking infractions have been posted on the Canadian Food Inspection Agency’s website, indicating it has been fine 51 times and a total of $264,800.

Earlier this week the company lost its appeal of two convictions in federal court.

The CFIA website indicates in its quarterly report for April, May and June that Maple Lodge was fined eight times and a total of $62,400.

The other major violator is L. Bilodeau et Fils Ltée which was fined three times and $19,800 in the quarter and has accumulated 23 fines for a total of $113,200.

Many of the Maple Lodge fines involve spent hens imported from the United States for processing at its plant at Norval, near Brampton, Ont.
