Hybrid Turkeys gets federal research support

The federal government is contributing $6 million to a project at the University of Guelph to breed better birds for Hybrid Turkeys of Kitchener.

The goals are to improve health, welfare and productivity.

The money comes from the Genomic Applications Partnership Program run by Genome Canada.


The university is also receiving $1.3 million for research related to aged cheddar cheese and $3.4 million to improve canola yields.
