B.C. funds for a packing plant

British Columbia is giving a beef-packing partnership $450,000 towards building a plant at Prince George.

The partners are farmers and investors, said Agriculture Minister Lana Popham at a meeting of the B.C. Cattlemen’s Association.

Cattle raised in the province now move to Alberta for finishing and slaughter.

Prince George was chosen because it has rail and highway transportation and grain producers.
