One Maple Leaf worker hit by COVID-19

One worker at the Maple Leaf Foods hog-packing plant at Brandon has contracted COVID-19.

Company officials said he was wearing a mask at work and is now recovering at home.

Over the weekend the company completed a thorough sanitation of the entire plant and office area.

The company and the local health unit said they think the worker picked up the virus in the community, not at the plant.

Ten people in that health unit district have tested positive so far this month.
