JBS shutters plant-protein facility

JBS USA is closing its Planterra facility in Denver and laying off 121 workers, in effect ending its North American investment in plant-based proteins.

JBS is the world’s largest meat-packing company with its head office in Brazil.

It launched Planterra and the Ozo line of products in 2019.

JBS said it will continue its plant-based protein businesses in Brazil and Europe. It owns Searra in Brazil and Vivera, a Dutch company.
