Agriculture Minister Gerry Ritz announced that he will have
a four-year term.
He is the first chairman to come from neither Ontario nor
Quebec, the two dominant milk-producing provinces.
He came to Canada in 1988 to be director of operations
for the Northern Alberta Dairy Pool.
He has been an executive team member with Dairyworld
Foods and the Vanderpol Food Group.
“For the past several years he has provided technical
and strategic assistance to dairy and food manufacturing enterprises
domestically and internationally,” says a backgrounder from Ritz’s office.
“He has extensive board experience with the British Columbia
Chicken Marketing Board and B.C. Investment Agriculture Foundation, B.C. and
Alberta Dairy Associations and the B.C. Food Processors Association.”
