Wildlife crop munching not covered

While the province listened to farmers when it updated coverage for wildlife damage to livestock and poultry operations, it left out crops.

Mark Reusser, vice-president of the Ontario Federation of Agriculture, said that means farmers are left to shoulder those losses because they are also not an eligible risk for crop insurance.

Deer are one of the main problems for crops, especially winter wheat.

I once saw a five-acre field of winter wheat near Kitchener entirely lost to grazing deer.
