African Swine Fever in Russia, Moldavia


There have been outbreaks of African Swine Fever in Russia, near its border with China, and in Moldavia.

Moldova reported two outbreaks in backyard pigs, the Paris-based World Organization for Animal Health (OIE) said.

The outbreaks took place in Gotesti in the district of Cantemir near the border with Romania.

The ASF virus killed three pigs while another 10 pigs in the locations were slaughtered, the OIE said.

The outbreak in Russia was at a small farm in Primorsk region.
