Sofina Foods Ltd., the biggest pork packer in Ontario and one of the largest poultry processors, is more than doubling its size by purchasing Eight Fifty Food Group, a major supplier of pork and seafood in Europe.
Financial terms were not disclosed.
The combined company will have more than 13,000 employees globally across 44 sites and nearly $6 billion in annual revenue.
Sofina Foods is privately owned and has its head office at Markham.
It has 21 sites and employs about 5,000 people. Its brands include Cuddy, Lilydale, Jane, Mastro, San Daniele, Fletcher’s, Vienna and Zamzam.
