John Frank Danner of New Hamburg has lost his appeal for an exemption from the fee required under the Ontario Farm Business Registration Act.
Danner gave little explanation for his appeal during a public hearing, other than quoting scriptures.
The tribunal wrote in its ruling that “he did not provide the tribunal with a cogent explanation of how the scriptural passages supported his request for exemption.”
Danner testified that he is not a member of an organized church.
Usually an exemption is granted if the applicant provides a letter of support from a bishop of a recognized church.
