Gallant to open vaccine plant

Gallant Custom Laboratories plans to soon open a 32,000-square-foot vaccine manufacturing facility at 60 Struck Ct. in Cambridge.

The company produces animal vaccines and will move from nearby facilities at 1425 Bishop St.

Prior to its purchase, the facility was comprised of cleanrooms, yet Gallant still needs to do some renovations to make it clean enough for vaccine production.

"It's one thing to produce satellite equipment, and it's quite another to produce vaccinations," said Steve Gerakopulos, the sales representative at Coldwell Banker Peter Benninger Realty who represented Gallant Custom Laboratories for the real estate deal.

Gerakopulos said having this facility open in Cambridge is a sign the region can retain growth in the area.

"I think there's plenty of spin-off opportunities, the obvious being employment . . .," he said.
