Maple Leaf workers ill with COVID-19

Maple Leaf workers at its plants at Hamilton and Brampton have fallen ill with coronavirus, strain 19, but both facilities are continuing operations.

The company said the workers are under self quarantine at home and all those with whom they had contact at work have been notified.

The company has developed protocols for dealing with these situations, including extra sanitation.

Canada had another situation at Harmony packers in Alberta and in the United States one plant in Iowa was closed and workers have fallen ill with COVID-19 at other plants owned by Foster Farms, JBS USA, Perdue Farms, Sanderson Farms and Tyson Foods.
