Dr. Ireland named chief veterinary officer for Canada




Dr. Mary Jane Ireland has been chosen Chief Veterinary Officer for Canada.

She will also be Canada’s delegate to the OIE, the world organization for animal health.


She is currently executive director of the Animal Health Directorate within the Program and Policy Branch at the Canadian Food Inspection Agency.


She takes over from Dr. Jaspinder Komal who has held the positions for four years.


CFIA President, Dr. Siddika Mithani “gratefully acknowledges the tremendous work” the work Komal did, the CFIA said in announcing the change.
