Europe places new demands on honey imports

Beginning Nov. 29, Canadians selling honey and other bee products to clients in Europe will need to comply with new regulations.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency said they should contact it to get added to the list of establishments approved for export to member countries of the European Union.

“Ensure that you have an establishment identification (ID) number for your establishment before you submit your request,” the CFIA is saying.

”Until the EU’s implementation date of November 29, 2024, Canadian consignments of honey and other apiculture products (meaning beeswax, royal jelly, propolis or pollen) intended for human consumption will continue to be authorised for entry into the EU as Canada is listed in Annex -I to Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2021/405,” the CFIA said.
