Bothwell Cheese Inc. of
Bothwell, Man., is recalling five of its shredded cheeses because they might be
contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency is warning that “consumers
should not consume and distributors, retailers and food service establishments
such hotels, restaurants, cafeterias, hospitals and nursing homes should not
sell or use the recalled products . . .”
They are White Cheddar Shred, Old Cheddar Shred, Mild Shred,
Old Shred and Mozarella Blend Shredded Cheese.
The CFIA says the cheeses have been sold in Quebec, Manitoba
and Saskatchewan.
Bothwell Cheese
is Canada's largest independently
owned cheese maker, known for its
award-winning cheeses which are branded under the same name, says Wikipedia.
Farmers
founded it as a cooperative in 1936 and sold it in 2002 to a group of private
investors.
