It’s the first PED virus outbreak since July 14, which was also in Lambton, but the 85th
in Ontario.
This outbreak is in a finisher barn.
The industry has been making solid progress eliminating the
virus from facilities and herds where there have been outbreaks and increased
biosecurity has been effective for months in keeping the virus out of herds.
The virus is able to survive longer in colder weather, so
the threat of spread is greater during late fall to early spring.
