The Chicken Farmers of Ontario marketing board doubled the
number of entrants to the industry this year- from two to four.
The four are Niels and Michelle Nielson from
Alliston, Raymond and Heather Nicholl from Everrett, Jonathan Giret from
Springfield and Brian and Catriona Decaire from Grimsby.
They are able to borrow quota from the
marketing board and they get a package of “educational resources, on-farm
support, and other assistance to ensure that new farmers can make a successful
transition into the Ontario chicken industry,” the marketing board says.
