Another one bites the dust

Tyson is paying $21 million to chicken growers to settle its part of a class-action lawsuit against 20 chicken processors accused of working together to fix prices.

The settlement agreement states that Tyson will provide compensation to Haff Poultry Inc. and other individual plaintiffs, as well as cooperate in the plaintiffs’ prosecution of similar claims against other major poultry processors.

Late last month, Perdue Farms also agreed to a settlement in the grower antitrust litigation; financial terms of that deal were not announced.

Pilgrim's earlier this year said it set aside $75 million to settle all claims by direct purchaser plaintiffs.
