Most food tests negative

Test results reported this week by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency reveal that Canadian foods, with rare exceptions, are safe to eat.

The National Microbial Monitoring Program found that 99.1 per cent of all food products tested during this fiscal year were compliant with Canadian standards.

The Food Safety Oversight program results indicated that 99.1 per cent per cent of all food products tested during this fiscal year were compliant with Canadian standards, with 98.5 per cent of domestic products, 99.6 per cent of imported products and 100 per cent of foods of unknown origin being compliant.

So how do you feel knowing that just under one in 1,000 food products might be contaminated with harmful bacteria?
