China’s pork production rebounds

Pork production in China increased by 28.8 per cent last year and totalled 52.96 million tonnes, according to the latest data from the National Bureau of Statistics of China.

At the end of the year, the pig population was up by four per cent and the breeding sow population by 10.5 per cent.

Slaughtered hogs in China were up 27.4 per cent at  year-on-year in 2021, a total of 671.28 million head.

Total output of pork, beef, mutton and poultry in 2021 was 88.87 million tons, up by 16.3 per cent from 2020.

I expect China will find some excuse to block pork from Canada, but probably not the United States because of a special trade deal that commits China to buying its agricultural products.
