Grogan to head Maple Leaf’s Greenleaf business

Alex Grogan will be the new chief executive of Greenleaf, which is Maple Leaf Food’s plant protein business.

He takes over from Dan Curtin who is retiring at the end of the month.

Last fall Maple Leaf said its investments in protein foods is under review.

Grogan is already on Maple Leaf’s executive team, has been with the company for more than 20 years and since 2019 has been chief operating officer for Greenleaf.

Maple Leaf said Curtin was a key player in the acquisition of the Field Roast business, which was brought together with the Lightlife business to form Greenleaf.

He was also in charge of the recent construction of the new tempeh facility in Indianapolis, one of the largest plant protein facilities in North America.\

Michael H. McCain, president and chief executive officer for Maple Leaf Foods, said that Grogan and Curtin have been working together for two years to build the Greenleaf team and prepare for the transition.
