Bancroft is retiring




John Bancroft, one of the best-known people in the Ontario swine industry, is retiring at the end of the year from the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs.

He has spent 34 years with OMAFRA as farm management specialist, county agricultural representative, swine specialist, and in his current position as market strategies program lead.

He is a past president of the Ontario Pork Congress, past chairman of the London Swine Conference, and participated in the planning committees for the Centralia Swine Research Update, OPC Gold Event, Ag Lenders Conference, and London Swine Conference.

In addition, John was involved with the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair Junior Barrow Show and he has been asked to speak at many agricultural conferences and seminars.


He received the Ontario Pork Congress Industry Leadership Award (2004) and Ontario Pork’s Award of Recognition.
