Trump will doom the TPP deal

President-elect Donald Trump says he will pull the United States out of the deal the Obama administration reached on the Trans-Pacific Partnership.

Trump says he will instead seek nation-by-nation trade deals with priority given to Japan.

Canada announced around the time of the final stages of the TPP negotiations that it has opened direct negotiations with Japan.

Canada stands to make gains for agriculture exports; Japan wants gains on auto trade.

Canada and Mexico are consulting about their approach to Trump’s vows to “fix” the North American Free Trade Agreement.
